The semantics of words...

Why is it that even when people know what your trying to say, they still argue with you about the words your using?

For example. The difference between intending to do something, and wanting to do something. OK!!! If your in a court of law, then fair enough, but apart from that WHO CARES!

I wish people would just take general conversation in the context and spirit that it is spoken in, and not get lost in the detail.

What does it mean to be a friend?

I thought - there is never a good enough reason to lie to a friend, either overtly or by omission, in an effort to protect their feelings!

I thought - being a friend meant that you sort stuff out, that nothing gets left unsaid.

I thought - when you value someone's friendship and company, that you tell them the things that they need to hear, even if they don't like it.

I thought - real friends don't make you feel like a fool when you find out what they really think.

I think I don't understand.

New addition to the family

My dad just got a new puppy... Her name is Princess.

A number of years ago, I had a golden Cocker Spaniel pup. Her name was Portia. I only had her for 2 weeks. I came home from work one day, and she was crying out in pain. The vet said she had a twisted gut, and there was nothing he could do for her.

I don't even have any pictures of her to remember her by. It was one of the sadder moments of my life.

Inaugural drivel...

The recent issues in Australia surrounding Schapelle Corby and the Bali 9, have prompted me to start blogging. My views are not particularly different from millions of others in Australia, but the manner in which some people seem to swing hot and cold really gets up my nose.

Case in point... The Indonesian embassy in Canberra was evacuated today after if received an anonymous package. The package had what appeared to be white powder inside it. The foreign minister Alexander Downer went in front of parliament just hours after the package was found. He made a statement saying that the white powder had tested positive for a biological agent. He also inferred that Schapelle supports may have been responsible. Consequently, the general public reacted like a fire with petrol thrown on it. Accusations flew back and forth between different groups about who might be responsible.

Now why would the minister address parliament making statements like that without having full posession of the facts. Its not going to achieve anything by making half cocked accusations, and yet one of the leaders of our country decides to shoot off his mouth.

This is from a man that has been cautioning restraint and circumspection.

Poor effort Mr Downer!!!
